New construction of National Grids natural gas liquefaction plant continues at Fields Point in Providence, Rhode Island. The new facility will allow the liquefaction of natural gas for storage. Arden Engineering was awarded the fire protection scope of the project. Design, fabrication, and installation of the Hazard Detection and Mitigation System (HDMS) consisting of fire protection systems to protect the main compressor building and the electrical/battery building. A double interlock pre-action system provides additional protection for the compressor building, as does two Sapphire Clean Agent systems for the electrical/battery building.
Automatic Oscillating Water Monitor
The water monitor is controlled by a fire alarm system within the equipment it protects. When a fire is detected, the alarm system will trip a six-inch deluge valve installed in the underground piping system to supply water to the cannon.
Double Interlock Deluge Valve
Valve supplies the sprinkler system in the compressor building.
Dry-Chemical Portable Fire Extinguishers
Twenty portable fire extinguishers of various types were installed to provide hazardous fire protection.
