Inside the PC Boiler Plant Replacement Project

CaptureAmidst the hum of two newly installed Johnson boilers nestled inside Providence College’s power plant, Al Moreau, Mechanical Coordinator and Fabrication Designer for Arden Engineering Constructors, demonstrated the capabilities of the Trimble Laser Scanner; a tool he used in the same room just a few months prior as he coordinated the installation of new boilers into the existing plant. Onlookers included Construction Management and Architecture students from Roger Williams University who had the opportunity to tour the newly renovated boiler plant as part of their course work.

Following the on-site demonstration of Arden’s room-scanning technology, students were given a behind-the-scenes look into the PC Boiler Plant Renovation Project as Moreau, alongside Arden’s Vice President of Construction, John Puniello, offered a glimpse inside the meticulous planning and coordination that is characteristic of such mechanical construction and installation projects.

CaptureHaving just toured the real thing, the students were presented with the 3D model of the boiler room that was produced by the Trimble scanner which illustrated the technology’s cruciality to project efficiency and completion.

While the fundamental basics of mechanical construction have arguably remained relatively static throughout recent years, the technology used today by industry professionals to complete projects efficiently and effectively is a product of the future The Trimble Laser Scanner is just one example of this future-now technology. By utilizing this technology, Arden has the ability to detect and address potential installation issues before they become onsite problems. This process saves not only money, but creates a more stable and safe job site for all employees. With the next generation of mechanical engineers/construction managers coming up the ranks in a world in which they have been indoctrinated with technology, Arden is proud to offer students an opportunity to use these innovative technological advances as part of their careers.
